Who We Are

Moira’s goal as a triathlete and a coach is to encourage everyday people to adopt a healthy life style and help them realize they can accomplish whatever goals they may set for themselves.  “I believe that with persistence and a plan we can overcome any obstacle that stand in the way of our dreams.”

Moira first started running in 1993 after she quit smoking.  She has since run more than 20 marathons, including NYC, Boston and New Jersey.  She was a competitive swimmer since early elementary school but had stopped swimming after high school and did not pick it up again for over 25 years.  After a running injury in early 1995 she began swimming again, and then cycling as a means of staying fit.  Enjoyment of the combination of sports ignited her passion for triathlon.  Since then, she’s raced everything from countless sprints and Olympic distance races to 1/2 and full Ironman distance races, which include 10 full distance Ironman races at Ironman Florida, Ironman Lake Placid, Ironman US Championship and the Ironman World Championship in Kona in 2007.

Over the last several years she has focused more on sharing her experiences as an athlete.  She is a USA Triathlon Certified Level 1 Coach, a Level 2 Total Immersion Swim Coach and is always working on expanding her skills and knowledge.  She has been fortunate to have worked for several years with elite pro triathlete Sheri Fraser at triathlon training camps in Clermont Florida, at the Fireman Ironman training camps in Lake Placid, New York  and also with individual athletes training for everything from their first sprint to their first Ironman triathlon.  She was the Race Coordinator for the Sandy Hooker Triathlon Club Tri series races, War at the Shore in Long Branch, the Red Bank Triathlon in Red Bank NJ and many other events in the Jersey Shore area.  She is the co-founder of the Jersey Girl Triathlon in 2010, an all-women’s triathlon at the Jersey Shore.  She is also an Ambassador with Matt Long’s I Will Foundation and the founder of StayStrong Multisport coaching and the Jersey Girls StayStrong Multisport Club. In 2012 she founded the Jersey Girls StayStrong Foundation, a 501©(3) organization.  Efforts of the foundation are in raising funds for local individuals, families or organizations in need of assistance. She is the co-founder of the Shark River Paddle Battle in 2013. This is a 100% charity event and in 2014 more than $10,000 was donated to a local respite for women battling cancer and St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital with funds raised at the race.
